The Real Estate and Store Development Technology team sits within the Global Real Estate / Project Management Office. We enable and support the entire organization, delivering strategic innovation while also keeping the lights on in the current technology portfolio. We collaborate with execution teams in Real Estate, Store Development, and Maintenance, understanding their processes and needs so we can deliver technology that enables their business and takes them to the next level.
As everything right now is about data, we are looking for someone to lead the building of a data infrastructure that allows our departmental customers and systems access to data they need from the enterprise as well as from internal applications and sources. While driving this, the Technical Architect will also increase our efficiency in maintaining and evolving our other software applications. The ideal candidate will balance short term need with long term strategy, grow and motivate the technical resources in the team, balance standard processes with renegade tricks, and be able to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Leadership: provide oversight, coaching and mentorship to all technical resources within data, application and GIS areas
Data Architecture: develop and implement a data strategy; determine necessary technology and direct and participate in implementation
Application Architecture: understand existing application infrastructure and determine strategy to reduce cost of ownership and increase effectivity in application development
Planning: partner with project management in providing time estimates and status reports for all work streams, validate other team member estimates
Product Influence: partner with Product Management to understand customer needs and pain points to deliver optimal, value-add solutions that balance speed to delivery and cost of ownership
Standards: establish and enforce standards for software development within the team (tech tools, delivery methodology, documentation requirements, testing, code reviews, etc.); evaluate and measure delivery; focus on continuous improvement
Technical Support: partner with Tier 1 and 2 Support team to analyze and deliver resolution to critical issues; provide development support via team for escalated issues
Accomplished team player who can have fun and work hard with a history of exceeding customer expectations
7-12 years of software/BI development OR comparable technical work experience.
2-5 years of enterprise data management experience
5 years of experience leading small to medium sized software engineering teams
Excellent grounding in standard SDLC (Agile and/or Waterfall methods) and the ability to know when to shortcut and when not to
Preferred technologies, products and practices: SQL Server, Data Warehouse methodologies (e.g. data vault, data lake), SSAS/SSIS, No SQL data stores, PHP, MongoDB, Azure
Familiarity with any BI reporting tool (e.g. – PowerBI a plus, Tableau, MicroStrategy, QlikView)
Successful track record of developing high quality software products within shared accountability teams as well as shipping production ready software on schedule and bug-light
Bachelor degree in computer science or a related discipline preferred
