The Energy Procurement organization manages electric and gas procurement to ensure reliable supply (e.g. meet the gas and electric needs of our customers 24 hours a day), reduce customer costs and price risk, minimize shareholder risk, and support environmentally preferred resources. Electric Settlements (ES) is a group within the Energy Procurement Organization that is responsible for settling contracts with over 400 counter-parties. Contracts include physical energy (e.g., conventional generation, renewable, & Qualifying Facilities), gas, transmission, and financial (e.g., options and hedging) types. In addition to interfacing with external counter-parties, ES partners with a number of organizations internal to PG&E, including Energy Supply, Legal, Accounting, and Banking & Money Management.
The Electric Settlements Reporting group is responsible for the reporting of monthly financial performance relevant to the electric settlements group (e.g., department-level), and the reporting of several operational performance categories relevant to Energy Procurement (e.g., organization and enterprise level, and external).
Electric Contract Settlements (50%)
Manage a number ofQF and CHPenergy contracts and ensure all activities are in compliance with contract provisions.
Perform invoice validation including processing of statements for payables and creating invoices for receivables.
Interact with counterparties on settlement related issues, Electric Trading on scheduling and dispatch issues, Contract Management on contract interpretation issues, and Legal on potential dispute issues.
Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on contract data as necessary.
Financial and Metrics Reporting (25%)
Lead others in and participate in the compilation and preparation of relevant forecast and accrual data related to the settlement of procured energy for provision to Corporate Accounting and other stakeholders
Partner with data owners to understand and document variance explanations
Lead the coordination of other stakeholders toward the successful completion of the monthly close meeting with Corporate Accounting (e.g., performing QA on the presentation package and co-facilitation of the meeting)
Lead or participate in efforts to refine and improve process effectiveness and business partnership with Corporate Accounting and other financial reporting stakeholders
Project Team Lead (10%)
Lead or assist on selected for projects within Electric Settlements.
Participate on other project teams or “task forces” within EP or in business partner organizations where core responsibilities would prescribe ownership.
Lead or assist on selected work streams for other projects occurring in ECMS or EP such as process improvement implementation or reporting documentation or compliance.
Reporting: Data Requests (15%)
Assist team to design and implement settlement and billing processes and tools for new procurement activities arising from PG&E Requests For Offers (RFOs), regulatory proceedings, or bilateral negotiations.
Work closely with Contract Management on implementation issues and participate in contract negotiations representing settlements as needed.
Assist managers and supervisors on providing business advice related to future business and team strategy.
Implement improvements and process automation for invoice estimation.
Collaborate with other groups in the Energy Procurement organization and Information Systems Technology Services (ISTS) as needed.
Lead and work on cross-functional goal teams to accomplish department goals.
BA/BS in Business, Math, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
Strong project management skills
Attention to detail/high level of organization
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Skilled in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Excellent analytical skills
Understanding of Energy Procurement business (3-5 years)
Understanding of Electric Settlements business (3-5 years)
CAISO/Energy Contract experience
Some LEAN, Six Sigma or other process improvement training
