The Opportunity:

In this role, you will partner with leaders to drive innovation and differentiation in Western Union Technology that leads to customer value delivery and new solutions and pilot concepts for areas of incubation. You will optimize overall technology servicing and allocated expense for Technology by achieving set KPIs and SLAs.

Right now, we are seeking a Senior Vice President, Engineering at Western Union’s office in San Francisco, CA. This position will report directly to the EVPand CTO Western Union.


  • Lead 40% of WU’s technology platforms andengineering, focused on both optimizing existing technology offerings as wellas collaborating to deliver new solutions, participating in strategic planningdiscussions with business leaders.

  • Optimize channel solutions for retail anddigital offerings; standardize technology solutions to deliver a consistentagent and customer experience.

  • Consumer-facing digital engineering, includingleadership for web, mobile, kiosk, and stage-and-pay offerings, as well as bigdata and fraud/risk technology solutions for the enterprise.

  • Retail Money Transfer technology platforms andengineering, as well as WU’s API strategy and engineering crossing allbusinesses.

  • Business Solutions engineering focused ondriving new payment solutions.

  • Center of excellence for Salesforce.comsolutions.

  • Apply process discipline for softwaredevelopment for all areas of engineering ownership, with a focus on leadingwith agile, continuous integration and deployment, and dev ops as well asstandardizing processes including QA testing, with clearly articulated SLAs.

  • Deliver upon set SLAs and KPIs for all areasserving business stakeholders; allocates expenses to the business with a focuson optimization of expenses over time

What you will need tosucceed:

  • Minimum 5+ years in executive managementexperience

  • Minimum 15 years work experience in leadinglarge technology teams

  • History of experience in leading end-to-endtechnology delivery for financial services including engineering andarchitecture.

  • Track record aggressively sun setting legacytechnology, while implementing new technology that adds value to the end customer.

  • Demonstrated skills in delivering solutions inan agile development framework.

  • An approach of process discipline, eliminationof waste, and continuous improvement; drives for elimination of duplication andthe application of lean tools

  • Proven able to have transparent and productiverelationships with peers and collaborate successfully across the organization

  • Aptitude to articulate and help othersunderstand and embrace a clear vision and strategy

  • Ability to be a company-wide change agent thatinfluences strategic actions and mindset changes
