The Stores Technology platform is a collection of applications and services that provides stores associates and customers a seamless experience across Point-of-Sale (POS) and other back-of-house capabilities. As the Senior Technical Manager with deep technical knowledge and proven leadership skills, you manage multiple product teams to deliver on critical business initiatives by leveraging and extending our robust technical platform while forging strong working relationships across organizational lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for ensuring product/project delivery excellence for Gap Inc.’s Next Gen Point-of-Sale (POS) system

  • Manage multiple product teams to build systems deployed to Gap Inc. stores

  • Provide leadership and direction for DevOps product team members

  • Work closely with Product Managers to define strategies for product capabilities, business applications and processes

  • Work with business and IT leadership throughout the strategic planning process. Participate in the process to prioritize and scope future product capabilities and initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with IT management. Keep IT leaders apprised of any issues or concerns. Take a 'no surprises' approach to communication within the department and with the business.

  • Display a strong work ethic and sense of urgency. Demonstrate strong initiative to make things happen.

  • Display a strong ambition in gaining skills and knowledge. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.

Requirement:

  • 3-5 years of experience in management and leading teams

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in providing managerial leadership to a product team-centric DevOps organization

  • Solid commercial software engineering skills for API development in Cloud, Java/J2EE commerce platform and CI/CD frameworks

  • Comfortable working with senior management, technical leaders, quality assurance engineers and software developers. Ability to interact with business executives in business terms.

  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and empower others

  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, industry standards and techniques in development and testing

  • Experience with object-oriented and service-oriented systems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to influence technical discussions and decisions

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related, or equivalent work experience

Desired:

  • Full lifecycle development experience on large projects, creating distributed and scalable retail systems

  • Understanding of online apparel retailing business processes
