The Land and Environmental Management organization is a team of professionals dedicated to providing integrated, company-wide environmental leadership, project support and compliance management services, as well as promoting environmental stewardship of PG&E’s properties and associated natural resources. The team includes Environmental Management and Programs, Environmental Remediation, Land Management and General Counsel Risk and Compliance.
Environmental Management Programs & Systems Intern is responsible for supporting the various programs team on a number of initiatives including but not limited to:
Air Programs Team -- Includes assisting in records management inventory and addressing potential gaps.
Water Programs Team --Includes assisting in state and regional water board permit reviews and internal procedure updates, analytical data review, assisting with compliance support, including a few trips into the field to help with mapping and sampling.
Hazardous Materials Program Team support -- Includes assisting with waste manifest filing, data entry into compliance systems, and guidance document updates.
General support for all programs -- Includes ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) certification program support, records form and document retention compliance, restructuring of our file naming conventions and assistance in updating our internal web pages.
The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Environmental Program Managers. This would be great exposure for any intern currently exploring the environmental field. The internship would provide the candidate insight and experience on environmental regulations with a company that considers environmental compliance and management to be a top priority. The intern would have exposure to multiple facets of environmental regulations spanning air, water and hazardous materials. They would also be exposed to internal record retention and data management structuring guidelines.
- Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields (students MUST be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship)
3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
Environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability or related fields background
Environmental management experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
