Facebook Machine Learning Engineer, Speech, Building 8 in Menlo Park, California


Building 8 brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories and that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The B8 team will apply DARPA-style breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. It will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of partnerships in universities, small and large businesses.

The Product Launch Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale. We are looking for an engineer for developing product software that leverages innovative hardware and cloud services. The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack experience developing rich and intuitive consumer-facing products.

Required Skills:

  1. Develop highly scalable state-of-the-art algorithms in one or more of the following machine learning and audio signal processing fields: Speaker identification, Speech recognition, Sound activity detection, Sound activity classification

  2. Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Android and backend mobile app development

  2. Knowledge in developing real-time algorithms for low/medium SNR audio signal processing

  3. Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs

  4. Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods

  5. MS degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field with 5+ years of experience

  6. Knowledge in developing and debugging in C/C++, and/or Java
