Investment Portfolio

The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (“IP”) is comprised of credit-sensitive assets (primarily public-side, fixed income investments) and high-quality liquid assets (U.S. Government and Agency-backed fixed income securities, “HQLA”). With dual reporting to the Head of Wholesale Banking and the Chief Financial Officer, IP manages a combined portfolio of AFS and HTM investments.

The Position

This position is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, risk management oversight as well as driving the financial performance of the Wholesale Banking Group’s public-side portfolio of credit-sensitive, fixed-income investments within Wells Fargo’s Investment Portfolio. The Head of Credit Portfolio Management will oversee the evaluation, personnel, and portfolio management of credit-driven investments across a broad spectrum of asset classes, and managing portfolio personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyzing credit-sensitive, fixed-income investment opportunities with a view towards long-term holds across multiple asset classes.

  • Assessing the relative value of the fixed-income portfolio across asset classes and industry sub-sectors, and building an investment strategy aimed at maximizing the risk-adjusted return of the portfolio.

  • Building and maintaining a robust portfolio management and surveillance system for purchased assets.

  • Talent management and human capital development for IP’s credit-sensitive asset portfolio managers and their respective teams.

  • Managing the various processes and policies that govern the portfolio’s activities.

  • Leading the introduction of new asset classes, products, and strategies for the portfolio.

  • Evaluating and implementing system and technology needs and enhancements.

  • Creating opportunities for strategically connecting the portfolio to internal and external partners and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • 10+ years of credit underwriting experience
