Position Summary:

The Publication Manager will support the Clinical Development and Medical Affairs teams in creating high quality publication documents. The Publication Manager may also be involved in creating regulatory documents . Will be in involved along with subject matter experts in creating a strategic publication plan, and will be responsible for it's implementation in a timely manner. Documents involved will include abstracts, posters, oral presentations at scientific congresses and venues and submission of manuscripts to scientific journals. The individual will be responsible archiving, updating and communicating publication strategy to subject matter experts and company management on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

Creating Strategic Publication and Scientific Communication Plan (the data dissemination plan):

Work with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs in creating and archiving strategic publication and scientific communication plan. Communicate the data dissemination plan to senior management. Update data dissemination plan at periodic intervals as deemed necessary. Vendor Selection and management: Work with contracting group and subject matter experts in developing requests for proposals for potential vendors. Run vendor bid defense meetings and manage contracting process through it's completion. Act as the point person for interacting with the selected vendor. Coordinate and conduct periodic data dissemination plan meetings with Vendor Lead and coordinate regular meetings with Vendor and subject matter experts within the company. Manage Data Dissemination process within the company: Establish and track timelines of publication material. Maintain and archive publication plan in a central shared space on the company intranet. Ensure involvement of subject matter experts in creating the publication document and ensure appropriate review of documents by subject matter experts in a timely manner. Facilitate quality control (QC) review of publication material. Route document for approval by senior management in a timely manner. Ensure timely delivery of publication material to scientific congresses and/or journals. Communicate status of overall publication plan and individual projects to teams and senior management in a timely and periodic manner. Support process audits. Participate in team meetings. Participate in timely submission of regulatory documents as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in a scientific field (Masters or PhD/PharmD preferred). Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 8 years of managing publication dissemination in biotechnology of pharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 6 years publication management experience is also required. A minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience is preferred. Good understanding of the publication authoring process by internal subject matter experts and using external vendors is required. Knowledgeable of ICMJE guidelines for preparing publication documents and knowledgeable of regulatory guidelines for document preparation are essential for this role. Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization. Excellent project management skills. Proven track record of timely completion of publication and regulatory documents. Proficiency software required to execute job duties.
