Staff Automation Engineer

Preferred Qualifications

This position is for a Staff engineer for SaaS LCM Quality

Engineering group. The candidate will be responsible for jointly

designing and developing software for Oracle Public Cloud in collaboration with

other development, QA Engineers and Product Management. In addition, candidate

will be expected to have deep understanding of the design of features of the

Oracle software stack, and to give explicit design input and test ability

feedback.

This is a hands on role, taking new ideas from concept to cloud readiness,

assessing that readiness, and the results. Leadership capability and

experience are needed to influence others and to technically lead a team in

this implementation.

Job Requirements

  • Design,develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications,tools, networks etc.

  • Dutiesand tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. May have projectlead role and or supervise lower level personnel.

  • Workon automation frameworks for the internal infrastructure and testing

  • Write,execute test plans and test cases.

  • Createscripts to automate creation, maintenance and monitoring of applications andrelated middleware/databases.

Skills

required:

  • Development background, with experience in any one of theprogramming/scripting languages: Java, Python, Groovy

  • Hands on Unix / Linux (Oracle Ent Linux Preferred)

  • Experience working in Agile / Devops teams (experienceworking with JIRA / GIT / Jenkins)

  • Virtualization technology experience (Xen, OVM, VMware) amust.

  • Experience working on daily /weekly builds, CI/CDpipeline

  • Background in system administration, storage (zfs) ishighly desirable.

  • Oracle Tech Stack experience highly desirable.

  • An eye for detail and testing mindset. Experience inengineering automation frameworks. Any experience with Source code review /debugging is a plus.

  • Communication skills are very important. Working withRemote teams is required.

Education

  • BSor MS degree in computer science or equivalent experience relevant tofunctional area.

  • 10years of software engineering or related experience.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 more years of software engineering or related experience.
