Job Description SRI's Procurement Team currently has an opening for a Buyer/Senior Buyer--Commercial Procurement to work in either our Menlo Park, CA headquarters or our Princeton, NJ office. This position will be responsible for procuring goods and services in support of all SRI divisions. The successful candidate will issue commercial and overhead-purchase orders and review any necessary contracts in accordance with user requirements and SRI policies.
-Maintaining vendor quotes and executing purchase orders
-Supporting internal clients by providing complete, accurate and current information on products and services pricing and availability
-Providing effective and timely follow-up to ensure accurate documentation, expeditious deliveries and resolution of accounting and receiving issues
-Issue RFP/RFQ for materials and services in support of internal clients
-Ensuring that problems relating to delivery, quality or pricing are promptly conveyed to the vendor and resolved in a timely manner
-Reviewing and executing contracts
-Providing professional and courteous customer service to clients
-Negotiating favorable pricing and terms and conditions
-Managing multiple projects under limited supervision
-Develop and manage supplier catalogs in SRI’s Procure to Pay system
-Drive process improvements in the purchasing organization and increase communication with customer organizations
-BS/BA in a business related discipline plus a range of 3-10 years of experience in a related field.
-Experience may be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree.
-Must be a U.S. Citizen
-Excellent knowledge of procurement practices/procedures, material management, accounting, and receiving.
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
-Excellent written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and problem solving ability required.
-Excellent customer service approach and attitude
-Proven analytical thinking, sound judgment and time management skills. Ability to manage workload, prioritize work and multi-task.
-Mentoring skills; proactively provide help and guidance to others
-Strong Procurement professional skills (negotiations, cost analysis, price analysis, sourcing, quotes, RFP/RFQ's, and proposal review) to ultimately drive cost savings
-Operational Excellence; extensive understanding of the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay process and procedures. SAP Ariba experience is a plus.
-Strong Problem Solving skills; understands how to break-down a problem, drives for root-cause and corrective actions. Able to think outside the box.
-Comfortable with Change; Ability to learn new skills; tackle new skills with enthusiasm and attention to detail
